Carefully Paced Reappearance The princess has been making her own measured re-emergence to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, recently giving her major oration since 2023, in which she discussed recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring". Music and Opportunity Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by talented youth performers supported by the Future Talent charity, set up with the help of the former royal to increase availability of instrumental training. Carys Wood, aged 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the organisation, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be performing at the evening's event. "Pursuing music is often costly," Carys said. She is now a student at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to develop their musical skills. A Sisterly Duo Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who plays the euphonium, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many distinguished guests," she said. Within the audience will be representatives of different generations. That will include nine-year-old Saphia Turner, recipient of a prize for youthful altruism, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to raise money for food banks. Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts The Abbey has been decorated with specially made wreaths, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett assisting in their creation. Taking to the stage will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a Cornish sea shanty group, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the perfect culmination."
