This winter transfer window is always a time of intense rumour and potential major transfers. Several prominent stars find themselves connected to moves away from their present teams. We examine a selection of the major names that are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the player in contention, reports suggest a significant move is close. This 25-year-old possesses a deal with a £65 million release clause active for a short window at the start of the month. Recent developments suggest Manchester City have emerged as his services. Former interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Anfield falling through. With his contract due to expire in the summer, January is the club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top sides, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. However, a January exit remains difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Spurs rate the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal playmaker could be set for a return to the English top flight following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his agreement ending in the summer, he is a potential bargain. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spanish media that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça under the manager Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a January exit looks highly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible destination, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This proven England centre-forward has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading hopes of being in the national squad. But, arranging a deal presents major challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

The dynamic midfielder drew considerable interest in the summer but remained at Atlético Madrid. With limited starts in Spain this term, he is keen to find more minutes ahead of the World Cup. H. Elliott

Although excelling and winning the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, the young midfielder has found it tough for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. The manager has confirmed the loan move won't become permanent. Due to FIFA regulations about playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a move back to his parent club before next summer appears to be the only viable outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

The exciting Turkish attacker has been in fine form for Juventus this term. With his existing deal running down, a host of Premier League clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a major move this month. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
