Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
