In the latest financial plan, we made the right choices for Britain, cutting the cost of energy with savings of £150 on utilities, safeguarding the health service and addressing the issue of youth deprivation by scrapping the two-child restriction. We also ensured that the income generated through taxes was done fairly, with all paying their share but those with the largest means bearing an appropriate burden. Because of the policies implemented, the budget fostered greater economic stability, curbing inflationary pressures and sovereign debt returns. This is crucial for defending our public services, when £1 in every £10 spent by government goes on loan repayments. Building on Economic Foundations The announcement strengthens the action we have already taken to enhance economic performance: allocating £120 billion in additional funding in such things as transportation and power infrastructure; implementing major regulatory changes in a generation to support developers, not obstructionists; supporting the expansion of Heathrow and Gatwick; and concluding commercial agreements with the EU, India and the US. Taken together, these have allowed us to outperform our expansion estimates. Renewing Our Nation As I set out at the party conference, the government’s purpose is nothing less than the renewal of our commercial landscape, our neighborhoods and our nation. Via these methods, we will stop degradation and reestablish confidence in our country. We will take on those on the political extremes who only offer grievance and whose approach would lead to additional deterioration. Let me be clear, increasing public debt or returning us to austerity – that is the politics of decline and I will not accept it. A Comprehensive Growth Mission Through remarks coming soon, I will place the budget in context within the broader commercial rejuvenation on which the government will be judged at the end of this parliament. For us to realize the countrywide revitalization we seek, we must do more to promote development, to combat unemployment among young people and to seek enhanced global partnership with our trading partners. Administrative Streamlining Program Our development strategy will include a refreshed emphasis on sweeping away unnecessary regulation. Frequently it was those on the left who have preferred controls, but there is nothing forward-thinking in regulations which merely act to raise the cost of living for the poorest, to hinder financial expansion unnecessarily, or prevent a Labour government achieving its aims. Hence the rationale I am asking the business secretary to confront the variety of pointless gold-plating and superfluous bureaucracy that increase expenses and impede our industrial strategy. Welfare State Modernization Financial revitalization likewise requires that we must continue to overhaul social security. We took over an ineffective structure that resulted in impoverished youth going hungry and which wrote off young people as incapable of employment. We cannot tolerate either part of that failing Tory system. That is why we will do more to assist youth in realizing their capabilities. Because if you are ignored in your early career, if you are not given the support you need to address psychological challenges, or if you are just discounted because you are having neurological differences or impairments, then it can confine you to a pattern of worklessness and dependency for decades. This imposes financial burdens, is harmful to our efficiency, but far more significantly, it takes away opportunity and overlooks capability. Any Labour government worthy of the name must not disregard this. That is why we have appointed an ex-health minister to make practical recommendations to help young people with medical issues obtain employment, training or education – making certain they get help to succeed instead of excluded. International Trade Enhancement Lastly, we need additional measures to help our businesses engage in worldwide exchange. No believable commercial perspective for Britain that does not place us as a welcoming, business-oriented country. We must confront the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement considerably harmed our commerce. It isn't necessary to have a PhD in economics to know that erecting unnecessary trade barriers with your largest commercial ally will hinder development and boost prices. Thus an aspect of our economic renewal will be persisting in advancing toward a stronger commercial partnership with the EU. Should we obtain less expensive nourishment, boost growth and create jobs by having a enhanced association with European nations, we should. A Serious Plan for Serious Times A financial plan founded on equitable decisions for Britain must be backed up with a determination to achieve the financial revitalization that the country needs. By delivering a big, bold long-term plan, not a set of short-term remedies, we will revitalize the nation. We need to transform once more a serious people, with a serious government, competent jointly to perform demanding actions to regain control of our future. By having a clear mission to rejuvenate our finances, our localities and our nation, we will execute the modification we committed to – and then be judged on it at the next election.
