🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Psychological Thriller Merging Survival Horror and Social Deduction Mechanics The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled a number of intriguing future games, but one especially has seized attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure seems to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "This is a unique experience where a young woman containing multiple personalities inside her needs to flee from a maze of the mind," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine seeming to be of high school age. Within her exist four separate souls, all possessing their own fears and drives. These souls can seize control spontaneously, unleashing their innermost terrors upon her suddenly. Based on revealed footage, much of the action unfolds within a eerie hospital, while other scenes depict the protagonist navigating a desolate chapel. An Environment of Individual Dread "What makes you afraid of? What makes you uneasy?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Things that seem trivial to other people can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — fears that are unique to every individual." The core mechanic revolves around controlling the persona that emerges at a particular moment. However, these souls will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, each soul's fears become amplified and attack the protagonist in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is filled with nurses who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Figures in the waiting room have large blooms where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, juxtaposing natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four entities inhabiting the protagonist is the "true" one. "All four personas claims that the physical form belongs to them," notes a developer. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is authentic." Once players believes a persona is fake, they are forced to destroy it. However, since every entity can deceive or hide the truth, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the true [soul] with your own hands," the narration states. "The last one standing could be a fake. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it is available to follow on platforms.
